Wrong/Wrong Connection Points Installed

This Stratux was advertised with an 'external' GPS antenna, but the connector on the antenna did not match the connector point on the Stratux case. No instructions were given and after careful analysis of both ends it was obvious that one of the two was wrong as it could not break or twist. Technical support information was also not included in the package. SMS

Reliable, accurate and a great addition to safety

This worked great on my open cockpit experimental airplane. I don't have a transponder so I can see who's around. I've had planes fly at 250 knots with no line of sight, but with this device I can prevent the NTSB from being written to. One day the SD card got corrupted so I emailed Crewdog support after midnight. Fixed by 8am! Excellent customer service!

Works perfectly! - Aviation GPS

works exactly as described. I needed tech support for something and it was a great experience. Also fast delivery. I've used it on the air a few times and it picks up other traffic if they have ADS-B. One day someone else was nearby and 1000ft down - the flight crew radioed me to let me know I hadn't had traffic for 3 hours and thanks to this device it was already on my foreflight display but I did couldn't see it. She. About that time I had to go down, so this information was very useful…

Better than advertised

Great product! Basically, I can end the review here. I read about the Stratux on Reddit while looking at cheap receivers (I didn't want to spend $600 on more expensive products). It works out. Wonderful. I didn't even push it out the window - I just left it in my 3-day multi-camera bag on the back of the 172, giving me all the situational awareness I needed for the flight/debrief. that it wasn't meant to be taken away. (Maybe find a container for it?) Great job Sean! Definitely will be buying…

Works like an avionics champion

So far so good, early review. It connects to the tablet's Wi-Fi, both Android and iOS. I was able to test it from the ground at some airports. In the Class C parking lot near the airport, I received ADSB reports from two of the tower's ground stations. That was the weather report. Reports can be filtered. Very well integrated with iFlyGPS including synthetic sight and artificial horizon. Foreflight's iPad test involved weather and traffic, but synthetic vision wasn't allowed. A pilot at one of…

Item didn't work

I even gave it a second chance and had to return 2 identical items. They charged me an additional $52 for my issues and called it a restocking fee. I can't even begin to explain all the problems, so I'll just say I bought it because it was half the price of the competition's products. I really wanted my iPad to be mounted on a stand and this gave me the wrong setup information on both products. So I disabled nose flight position but figured I could still use it for traffic. I received multiple…

Works great, can be added as a flight bag storage case

Im impressed. The fit seems perfect. I first tested it on my airport floor with a GPS puck antenna. When I zoomed in on Foreflight, the device recognized me in a parking space next to a handicapped space - exactly where I was. It worked fine in flight, although I haven't used all the features yet I'm sure I bought a great device. I'm new to iPad, Foreflight and ADSB-IN receivers but these connect easily to my iPad and Foreflight benefited immediately. It was really amazingly easy to use and…

Reliable ADS-B receiver at a bargain price - GREAT customer service

I fly several club and rental aircraft and need a portable ADS-B receiver. I decided to try Crewdog's Stratux because it cost half or less than many other handhelds and got great reviews. It was my first wearable device and I didn't want to spend $500-$1200 on something I wasn't familiar with. All the great reviews are fully justified. The service is EXCELLENT! Sean will get back to you within hours and answer any questions or concerns.2. The block works perfectly. I tested this device with…

Rating update: After 9 months of use

This device keeps connecting and disconnecting from the iPad and has basically been down for about a month. I'm not sure if it keeps restarting, but I've tried different USB cables and the like - to no avail. I have a suspicion that the microUSB connector is loose, and possibly the ADSB antenna chip too (I've also had ADSB disconnected a few times). The micro-USB input on the case would probably have to be reworked so that the cable can be plugged in more easily and made more stable. For now…
