This version of the Walkman has a smaller screen than the previous one. Some of the buttons that used to decorate the sides are gone too: volume is now controlled by moving the up and down arrows while playing the selection; Hold appears to be automatic every time it's turned off and when otherwise triggered, and there are no external speakers - this headphone-only version (I've used the speaker function occasionally, but probably almost no other). Otherwise, the most inconvenient thing, as others have pointed out, is that deleting files or creating subfolders can only be done from the computer and not while using the device. It handles MP3, WMA and WAV. The battery life is good, at least a couple of hours. Eventually the battery started having trouble holding a charge, prompting me to replace the old one. If you need a standalone MP3 player this is a good choice and relatively inexpensive. Month I have to correct my above comments. There are serious problems with the firmware. Sometimes things get stuck spontaneously: the break doesn't work; The off button just stops it. The only way to turn it off is to switch to another MP3 (which works) and then pause or press the power button again. The track where this happened will later play normally. Depending on how you use the player, this might not matter much, but for me it's a big problem. My previous Walkman also had this problem. In fact, this is the main reason I switched to this newer version hoping it will fix it. No, that is not so. I had to give up Sony and part with this device.
