Weak steel for stand

I have a 1999 YZ 400f. This triangular stand broke on the first day of use. The steel is soft and bends too easily. The tip broke off after just a few minutes. I welded it back on and it broke again. I finally reinforced it with rebar and now it's holding up. I do not recommend this for a bike larger than 125cc.
