Worked properly for about a year. Fits perfectly, was easy enough to install (be careful with the lever connectors as they can be easily damaged if you're not careful). The fan also remained silent. Then a few days ago the fan started spinning at full speed and stayed there all the time. I reset the PRAM and that fixed it for about 12 hours before it got out of hand again. I returned the old fan I kept and it still worked perfectly. I only replaced the old fan as a precaution and because it was a bit noisy at times. The good news about these computers (and most) is that if they start to overheat due to a fan problem or insufficient cooling, the computer will usually shut down abruptly to protect itself. So if that fan failed it probably wouldn't hurt, but I'm surprised at how short it took for it to fail. The old fan is original to the computer and is probably about 9 years old. So I think this fan was fine for a short time, but if you want to change it, keep the original fan (unless it's completely dead).
