I bought a 3 liter bag to mix with Seachem Florite in my 29 gallon planted aquarium in low light conditions. So far I've been impressed with it. Pros: - As long as plant growth is good - Doesn't cloud the water too much - Looks very natural - Settles very quickly and doesn't cause a slight stir Cons: - Not much product for the money - not really black, dark brown actually - if you smash it when you first put it in the aquarium, it will turn your water black. My mistake in using it is that I chose to rinse it first while stirring it. This destroyed the substrate and rendered my waterproof black. However, he calmed down very quickly and has been very clean ever since. I think this is a good option for Aquasoil.
