Despite the many rave reviews I hesitated for quite a while about buying one. That's a normal amount for an upgrade. But with this new "different brand" softstart competitor and double warranty, lower price etc. I decided to give it a try. Installation was very easy on my Dometic Brisk Air II, which is only 13.5 years old. NetworkRV has charts that you can print out and follow which makes things really easy. Installation took about 30 minutes. We hooked it up to a 120 AC house to make sure it was plugged in and working properly (it did). Then we switched off the shore power and started our Honda EU2000. We tried the ECO first but it wouldn't start. The delay from ECO to full power was too long and the generator started to work at a strange rhythm trying to put out enough power. It's okay, I didn't expect it to work in ECO mode. I'm at over 5,000 feet and the generators just aren't as powerful as they are at sea level. Try 2, we turned ECO off then tried AC again, it started and worked great! We turned off the AC, allowed a few minutes for the AC head pressure to equalize, then tried again. Everything started immediately without any problems! My god, I'm impressed! I have a feeling the EU2000 is on the verge of powering my RV on AC at high altitudes where the generators lose 10% at 3000ft (read this somewhere). . I have sold my previous pair of EU2000s and have now upgraded to an EU2200i just to give me that extra boost of performance when we are at 8000ft+ in the National Forest on a hot day. Conclusion: THIS WORKS ABSOLUTELY! We ran AC directly on an EU2000i. :) I'm so glad I don't have to lug around 2 generators, double the space, double the fuel, etc etc. Definitely a very cool upgrade. And very happy with the device. *** UPDATE *** 5/31/2020 Due to the Covid19 virus crippling everything, we haven't been able to camp that much this spring so far. It's very hot right now. and to be honest I can't keep my AC running with a single EU2200I. I am very upset at this moment. We have just returned from a very hot sticky trip where I couldn't get the AC to work for more than 2-3 minutes before turning off the breaker on the generator. Your statement "start a small generator" means it will run for a few minutes, is that enough? So yes, my first assessment was correct. It started and ran on a single EU2000i in much cooler weather, but in 100 degree weather a single EU2200i just can't handle my altitude. Downgrading my rating to 2 stars because the air conditioning is easier to start than they claim. and a generator, but it won't work for a while unless you're at sea level. I regret having sold my previous two EU2000i's to try and upgrade to a EU2200i with this soft start. I spent a lot of money and am very dissatisfied with the result.
