TL;DR: I no longer have to bow my head in embarrassment every time I show a visitor our powder room. also be the one my boys are responsible for. they use the most and are theoretically responsible for cleaning. I figured the only possible solution was to shoot the entire toilet into space and start over. That thing works with pumice stone. It really worked! I did a miracle in the bathroom! A few points: * Pumice stone wears out as you use it. It took a whole stick to save the boys toilet (but it was worth it!) * Clean the toilet VERY well before using the pumice stone. Maybe more than once. Your hand will slip into the water and you need to calm that voice in the back of your head that says you are going to get a terrible disease. A few things worked for me: using broken pumice stones in my hand to clean those spots, as well as using some steel wool brushes (I used Spirinett, FYI). I wish I had taken photos. Suffice to say I can now walk past the toilet and not be disgusted by what I see from the hallway.
