Review on πŸ”‹ Advanced RayHom AA AAA Battery Charger - Smart 8 Bay Recharger with Pilot Lamp for Ni-MH Ni-CD AA & AAA Rechargeable Batteries by Barb Cook

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Only works with high-quality rechargeable batteries

after using this charger for 3 days, testing various niMH and NiCD AA AAA batteries, i have the following experience and send the product back. ADVANTAGES: It works with good quality batteries, can charge one battery at a time, and comes with AC power. Power cord CONS: Works ONLY with good batteries - slow charging. I charged 8 Eneloop 2700 mAh which are 2 years old and after 10 hours only 2 turned solid green (I stopped charging) - the batteries get very hot, especially the solid green ones - the bottom of the device, especially in the Sew the power cord. You can feel the plug but it is very hot - slow detection of bad batteries. I have some old, not so good batteries that charge and then after 10-20 mins or so, they went solid green, clearly uncharged. I have another charger that when I put these batteries in it immediately flashes red indicating a problem and will not charge. - Difficult to insert and remove batteries. While the device isn't super compact compared to others, it does make it kind of difficult to get batteries, especially AAA. a small flathead screwdriver might help. I had high hopes for this charger based on the cheap price and great product description, but in the real world I got nothing for my money. *** UPDATE *** 10/15/2020 Update my rating to 4 stars. RayHom provided good customer service from their end, gave me a replacement test unit and I can see that the one I had previously was defective. I tested the replacement for 3 full days using the same set of different size and age AA-AAA batteries. Below are the results. Overall this is an excellent charger in terms of functionality and price. - Batteries don't get very hot, only get slightly warm on this unit - Tried the same 8 Eneloop AA batteries charged to 50% charge, took 4 hours to charge. The 4 batteries turn green (fully charged). Somehow the other 4 are still red but I didn't continue as I think they will turn green in an hour or two. These not-so-good batteries change color from red (charging) to green (not charging) in 1-2 minutes. at this time. It is good to tell me that the batteries cannot be charged. good indicator. - I still give one star out of five for the quality issue as well as the battery removal situation. Putting the batteries in is easy, but not so easy to take them out without dropping the batteries on the table or the floor. a flathead screwdriver or a coffee stirrer should be used to peacefully remove the batteries. :)
