Tap Magic Cutting Oil

As a locksmith (now retired) with over 23 years experience I can say this is one of the most popular cutting oils on the market and has been around for at least 44 years. years and probably much longer (I started as an apprentice locksmith when I was 14). It is a very high quality cutting oil and is mainly used in mechanical workshops for one-point carving. However, it can be used at home as a good metal cutting oil. The big plus of Tap Magic is that it produces very little smoke when your tool and work surface get hot. In fact, it produces far less smoke than the "heavy" dark machine oil that was common in machine shops at the time. Back then there were a few "heavy" oils that were common at the time, although water-soluble oils were off to a good start. Tap Magic is expensive in small amounts, but you only need a few drops during your haircut. TM oil contains special ingredients that allow you to cool the tool and work surface, this is incredibly important when cutting most steels, the surface of the material to the point where it can no longer be cut, drilled or machined, all tool steel cutters! is common when you don't pay attention to your "pitch and speed" (area rating) with the type of material you're working with. If the work surface and tool get very hot, you can burn yourself. a cut surface that can easily exceed 45 RC on the C scale (very hard and typical carbide machining is used for this hardness class) Tap Magic helps prevent this but still requires that You control your speed and the feed of your cut so the cutting teeth of the tool are under load and NOT "rubbing" them, which is the first step to a bad day. This product was considered a must have in most mechanical workshops. until the year I finally came out (2000). I have no doubt that this oil is still popular in garages across the country, if not the world. With that kind of endorsement, it is safe to say that this oil is without a doubt a 5 star product.
