Review on πŸ” ASUS RT-AC1200_V2 WiFi Router: Dual Band for Gaming & Streaming, Easy Setup, Parental Control by Landon Bandepalli

$12 open box at Revain? You can't go wrong with this simple home router.

I have an Asus 1300 series laptop at my work studio in town and I love its many features including the simple user interface. We bought a cottage in Wisconsin and needed a simple, inexpensive router with lots of options for managing bandwidth and guest networks because we rent the house. I found this Asus 1200 series in an open box for only $12 (and they have a lot of returned units here!) and I'm very happy with it. We don't have the fastest internet speeds (e.g. 25MB) so it's nice to have multiple WiFi networks that I can regulate - one for my family (8MB), one for guests (5MB) and then the main 5G signal that I use for work when I need a fast connection for meetings and the like. And then I use the QOS feature to shrink our kids tablets to about 4MB because they don't need to download their videos in HD NOW. You can wait haha! Apparently the #1 complaint in Revain user reviews is that the main LAN I/O port is only 10/100 and not gigabit. For those who have a connection under 100MB, it doesn't matter. I don't know about everyone else but we have the fastest line (even at my work) of only 30MB. Communication in our country house is only about 25 MB. But there will always be speed lovers who look at pure numbers. This router isn't for you if you need raw speed. But then again - $12 - what do you expect? Even at $45 new, this Asus has LOTS of features. QOS, up to 6 guest networks (3x 2.4G and 3x 5G) and decent enough Wi-Fi performance. We have a ground floor house of 1500SF and it reaches all corners of the house and basement with no problem - in the MORE part of the basement it sometimes drops to 1 bar but we don't need networks there. is a reliable Wi-Fi router for basic home needs with a connection speed of less than 100MB. If you need something fast you'll have to spend over $50: don't be discouraged if a basic router doesn't meet your non-basic needs!
