Really checks every box for a great lock

Giving 5 stars ('I like it') to a travel lock seems odd - how much can a person 'like' a travel lock? - but this one ticks all the boxes. I wash zippers fairly quickly, mainly because they disappear when not in use (they disappear where my socks are in the dryer, I guess), so I've used a bunch from multiple sources over the past few years. I'll be really sorry if I lose this because it's one of the best I've seen. Here's how it compares to about a dozen others I've used: 1. Durable. This lock has a lot of weight and appears to be much stronger than most. I won't test it by trying to break it, but the lock almost doesn't budge when it clicks and the case looks very solid.2. Metal! Many locks I've seen have plastic bodies. It's a heavy piece of metal, which I think makes it safer. he fits The loop is big enough for all of our bags but not so big that I'm worried about dangling. It also slides easily through the zipper holes. Some I've seen have tiny loops or the metal is too big for some of the zipper holes.4. Easy to install. It took a whopping 7 seconds to set the lock combination. It took a lot longer to read the instructions, but my husband finished setting it up before I actually finished the instructions. So I'm guessing it installs pretty much like any other lock, but it comes with detailed instructions. Easy to read numbers (!). Most locks have numbers that are difficult for me to read because the ink is peeling off the flat impressions, or there is no paint, or the impressions are tiny, or whatever. It has deep, clear numbers printed in crisp black ink. Add to that the large handy dots that indicate where the "set" numbers should be aligned and this is one of the easiest to read locks I've used. Smooth action. The combination turns smoothly, none of the 1/2 digits stutter like cheap padlocks. Locking and unlocking this thing is very easy (especially since I see numbers for a change).7. TCA indicator. I really want to know if the lock has been picked, as the TSA doesn't always put those little "we opened your bag" cards in my suitcase when I suspect it was picked. It's nice to have and not as common as it should be. I will soon make my first trip with this lock, so I really hope that it will not be like other locks in my life. If this happens I will come back to buy more of these. I also just noticed the price ($8.60 at the time of writing). That's stealing - I can get some extras before I need them.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing
