File used this spatula for smearing and patching in my laundry room this week. We had a small knife and a very large knife, different brands, but we really needed a larger medium knife like this. I found it easiest to work with when it came to stitching because it was small enough to be maneuvered with but large enough to cover a large area without having to frequently dip it in putty. The overall structure and quality is great and I'm sure it will be used much more in many of our future projects. It was well packaged and protected for safety. At the very end where the blade is there was a strip of rubber and there were plastic holders at the bottom of the blade where the corners meet.
