Pretty much a great notebook.

I've been playing with the 16" version for a few weeks now. very happy with the build. The screen doesn't shake too much and the keyboard is just comfortable to use. I'll say it There is a potential issue where if you apply enough weight/pressure to the area to the left or right of the touchpad you can register it as a click, but this has never happened in practice, something to watch out for when You have giant sausage hands that might be resting on a laptop Also, I LOVE the trackpad It's been about a decade since I've used a laptop mat so I assumed a mouse would be a must, but not now The multi-touch controls work great and are a nice size so I never feel like my fingers reach too far into a corner to flip through the pages normally As for the software, I am impressed with the SSD and the operating system. After entering your user preferences for the first time, the computer can go from shutdown to the startup screen in about fifteen seconds. I haven't tested the CPU extensively, although I found that it can run Overwatch on low settings and 60fps with minimal glitches. I mainly use it for writing lyrics and random google searches/time wasting which it handles easily and I'm sure it can also stream a Spotify setlist or play iTunes. That didn't seem like much at first either, but the fingerprint scanner is so handy that I'm actually spoiled and annoyed when I have to enter a password on the desktop. You could do without preinstalled apps like McCaffee, but the apps look good for the most part. There is an LG Virtoo app that syncs with an LG phone, which I also have. Testing. I mean it works, you can send/receive calls through your laptop and copy any photos you've taken, but the bluetooth connection drains your phone's battery under heavy use and the sound/mic quality is nowhere to be grumbled professional. Much more useful is a simple control panel where you can adjust performance, screen brightness, and fan settings with one click. There's also an LG-branded video editor, although I doubt you'd want to compile 4k footage on this laptop given Gram's low voltage and onboard graphics. There are just a few quibbles that make it a 4/5. The main thing is that for some reason I can't get it to save separate power/brightness settings depending on whether it's plugged in or not. This is a quick fix by clicking on the battery in the taskbar and changing the screen brightness with hotkeys, but it's a hassle to do this EVERY time. Second, if you don't use the Gram fully charged while it's charging, the charging unit gets surprisingly hot. I would even say hot. Finally, the screen is really glossy. Living in a hermit cave I don't mind it for me, but I can imagine using it outdoors or in a coffee shop with a bunch of overhead lights might not be the best experience. Can I recommend this absurdly expensive laptop to anyone? Oh no. It suits my niche when I need a super light, quiet writing utensil with a decent screen size that easily lends itself to Google searches or time for very light gaming sessions. In this respect I am very satisfied. Whether you need something for gaming, media creation, or media consumption, there are cheaper and better options out there.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Good but not great
