Review on πŸ”¬ Creality 3D Official 235x235x3mm Tempered Glass Build Plate by Joe Glass

Revainrating 5 out of 5

No magic or anything like that, but works well even with advanced materials.

I see many reviews complaining about mismatched adhesion and excessive adhesion causing damage. Most of them don't say much about their settings or materials. If you're just printing PLA (but why?) you can probably just lay the material directly onto the surface. For everything else you need to figure out what temperature works and add something as an interlayer. With Elmer's purple glue stick I have successfully glued PLA, ABS and PETG as well as nylon and polycarbonate with significantly thicker adhesive layers. Obviously the last two require an all metal hot end. I used E3D V6 and it worked great. The surface finish and handy trick of it peeling off on cooling isn't lost by using a thinner layer of adhesive, but with the 7-8 layers required for nylon and polycarbonate, you may need to work around a bit to solve. Despite this, the surface finish remains good. Mine arrive neatly packaged and completely flat. I've used staples for a few prints, but after running it at 110C for a while it seems to stick fairly securely to the bottom half of the magnetic sticker that comes with the Ender 3 Pro and I haven't seen any reason to try to tear it down. It's also worth noting that this is soda-lime glass, not borosilicate glass.

Pros
  • 3D printer accessories
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
