My dog needed something to steady his knee while he was recovering from a broken sacroiliac bone. If you have a squirrel hunter, you know how difficult it is to keep him in place. He's a Shepherd mix, 106 pounds, and I bought him an XL. I agree with other reviews about the strap slipping off after styling. If you do your research, you will find that there are limited ways to find an inexpensive device that will help with this condition other than spending hundreds of dollars. I made two simple modifications and they work great! First I trimmed the corner of the inside of the brace so it wouldn't cut into his groin (HUGE SUCCESS!), then I sewed on an extra strap so he wouldn't fall off every time he got up from a prone position (ANOTHER BIG ONE SUCCESS!) . With these modifications, it only comes off when we take it off before bed. For the price, it's worth the effort! And of course, my pup deserves to be as comfortable as possible. It's definitely better than surgery!
