The user manual and setup app are sorely lacking

The product itself looks fine now that it's working, but the initial setup left a lot to be desired. I first tried setting up the product using the manufacturer's settings app on the Google Play Store, but the app was "bugy" and useless. The app allowed me to enter all my information to set up my account but kept not responding when I selected "Activate" in the last step. I then tried activating my account using a mobile browser and encountered the same issue. I was finally able to activate my account via the browser on my PC. The next task was to connect the device to the WiFi. It was no small thing as it was NOT mentioned at all in the installation guide included in the package! After searching the Ooma website I found a user manual for Telo Air but no manual for this product, Telo Air 2. After a bit of troubleshooting and physically connecting the device to the computer I was finally able to access the software on the device and complete the setup. It now works fine wirelessly, but the requirement to physically connect to a computer to perform the wireless setup (come on, it's 2018) and the lack of a manual on the product box OR online for this model (Telo Air 2) is completely insufficient. What should have taken 15 minutes ended up taking almost 3 hours due to a poorly designed app and poor logistics. There is no excuse for launching a new model without updating the manuals.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
