I bought this product to use yarn scraps to make hats and scarves for charity. I have many years of experience in knitting and crocheting. I read all the reviews before buying this machine and people said it came with minimal instructions so I watched quite a few YouTube videos. It is difficult to close without losing the stitching. As one YouTube reviewer put it best: If you think you'll take this machine out of the box, put yarn in it, and twist a hat or scarf without much skill, think again. I highly recommend anyone using this machine to knit the first few rows and the last few rows with the junk yarn that comes with the machine. This way you will have no tension problems at the beginning of your work and no skipped stitches at the end. I've used 3 and 4 yarns with no problems (just regular acrylic yarn, no ruffle or textured yarn) and I haven't had a single skipped stitch in the body of the work. When removing buttonholes directly from the machine I have found that the stitches unravel on their own - when I remove one the next one or two pop out causing the stitches to fall out. Using junk yarn solved this problem. But the machine arrived 2 days early and proved to be very reliable, producing a nice flat front surface. I have mine on a glass table top and the suction cups hold up very well. I don't have to hold it while embroidering stitches. I am very happy with mine. I gave it a 4 because I think it might be difficult for beginners and the instructions aren't enough. Watch YouTube videos for "tips and tricks" and more. Just type how to use the Sentro knitting machine in the search bar and check out a ton.
