To give you a little overview of my review, my first EVGA motherboard was the 680i. It is followed by the 780i, 790i, x58 Classified, 4-Way Classified and SR-2 (last two still owned). They were all fantastic boards and I had a lot of fun with them. Then Intel released the x79 platform and I pre-ordered the x79 Classified. Unfortunately it was a nightmare. I've never had a worse experience with a motherboard. It was so bad I took the risk of switching to an ASUS board and have been with them ever since. I figured enough time had passed and it was time to give EVGA another try. So I bought x299 dark. Installed it on a workbench and turned it on. Everything looked amazing. I updated to the latest BIOS version and familiarized myself with it. Everything was going great until I decided to move it, which necessitated unplugging it from the power source. As soon as I plugged it back in and turned it on, I got a CMOS error and my BIOS settings reverted to default. Nothing was faulty, I returned everything as I wanted. And then I thought let's turn it back off to make sure this isn't a fluke.cmos error again. So I googled a bit and found that this is a common problem. Cmos batteries that are DOA with these darkboards. So I took out one of the ASUS boards, ripped off the dark board since you need access to the back of the board, and installed it. After that, there are no more CMOS errors. So except for the CMOS error everything works great. I'm glad I returned to EVGA. Hoping to bring back the fun and excitement of the old x58 tools.
