Finally a solution

I was trying to get a docking station that works with both Mac and Windows, has USB-C power and can output 3440 x 1440 to two monitors in expansion . mode via HDMI. That sounds like a simple criteria. Let me tell you it's not. I have a MacBook Pro for personal use and an HP laptop for work. I have 2 LG 34GK950F monitors. Both DisplayPort inputs on these monitors are already being used by my Windows desktop. Only HDMI is available. Before that I drove through at least 4 docks. If anyone else is looking for a solution like this, you already know my pain. Nothing worked as advertised. And technically it wasn't, but there was a workaround. Ideally, the docking station grants these permissions when connected to Displayport. 1080p, 1440p, 4k, no problem. Unfortunately, HDMI had issues - it supported 1920x1080 and 3840x2160 with no problem, but not 3440x1440. It is displayed but very blurry and pixelated. I didn't want to give up - not after finally finding a docking station that could at least support my two monitors in extended mode on Mac OS when all the others were down. I bought an active Displayport to HDMI adapter. No success. But then I found that while the adapter supports HDMI 2.0, it is only compatible with Displayport 1.2. I tried again and bought an active Displayport 1.4 to HDMI 2.0 adapter --- SUCCESS! I am not deducting a star from this rating as I don't think there is anything the manufacturer could have done to prevent this issue. This product uses the DisplayLink DL-6950 chipset and the DisplayLink website does not list support for 21:9 aspect ratio over HDMI. For what Wavlink had to work with, they did a great job. I hope my review helps someone else who has been in my situation. Buy this dock and buy DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.0 adapters. You will be fine.
