Review on Genie 7055-KV Garage Door Opener, Black by Douglas Berry

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good Install with some modifications on Wayne-Dalton Door

1. Heavy duty chain for dependable operation.2. Easy to program for limits.3. Quickly and easily setup the HomeLink remotes built into my (2008 Cadillac CTS, 2015 Chrysler Town and country, 2013 Chrysler 200, and 2015 Cadillac ATS)4. Exterior code remote is well lite for nighttime operation and intuitive to operate. All remotes were already programmed for the opener.5. Battery backup installed in less than a minute and works wellCons:1. You have to run wires for the safety beam and wall switch, unlike the Wayne-Dalton iDrive I replaced (having the wires wall switch will not require battery replacement, bonus long term).2. The garage door mounting bracket required modification and with my Wayne-Dalton door I needed to reinforce the area around the location for the bracket.How-To Program you HomeLink Car:1. Optional in feed to clear all the codes from you cars garage door Remote: Pres and hold the two outer button for more than 20 seconds - you will see the HomeLink lite flash then you can release the two end buttons.2. Prep for programming 2a. - Make sure the car is outside or in the stall next to the door you want to add in the car HomeLink system and have a stool or ladder if needed so you can reach the program button on your opener. 2b - have the new remote transmitter in hand that came with the door open make sure you pull out the battery save slip and the remote operates the door. 3. Hold the remote transmitter one to three inches from the HomeLink buttons in the car, then press and hold the HomeLink button you want for this door AND the remote transmitter button simultaneously until the HomeLink LED in the car flashes quickly. 4. Go to the door opener and press and hold the program button for 3 seconds. (The light will flash Purple) 5. Go back to the car and press the previously programmed button to add it to the door opener.Test the button by pressing the button again after a few minutes and see if the door opens or closes (you may need to try a second time)

Pros
  • ‎12 x 8.5 x 27.75 inches
Cons
  • The opener may be quite slow to open and close your garage door, which can be frustrating if you are in a hurry

Replaced this new garage door opener with a 5 year old Chamberlain (noisy and unreliable) - installation was easy - only issue was programming the outside pad (directions were confusing) - but after I figured it out, works perfectly, super quiet and love the light pad when I need to find something in the garage after dark. Would certainly purchase again (but I hope this will be the last garage door opener).
