I bought this thinking it might be a good product. It really is like that. It replaces the standard brackets that allow the tailgate extension to be removed at a 45 degree angle, with a locking mechanism that allows the bed extension to be fitted from above in any position and at any angle. Installation took 2 minutes as I had already installed the original latches. All I have to do to place the bed extender is push it down and it snaps into place and folds back and forth. To unlock, all you have to do is pull the small lever to unlock the extension. This should be an option when purchasing a bed extender. Either way I think this is a great upgrade that makes using the bed extender more convenient as you can install it without rotating it which can be an issue if you have long things like an off-road motorcycle in your bed. Very happy with this purchase
