As a hobby I assemble/repair audio equipment. I have an old Dell computer that I use in my garage at work. This is my music source for the workshop and also for testing devices. A while ago the sound chip got corrupted by something plugged into it so that's what I got. Basically I got it because it has both RCA output and 1/8" jacks. I really wasn't expecting much from it. I have to say I'm amazed by the sound quality. For me it sends a signal to the old MCS 3360 receiver with Bose 301 set and powered subwoofer. This is a definite improvement over the built in chip that Dell had.Connection was fairly easy.I have windows 7 so had to do a bit of searching for a driver , but that didn't help. It doesn't take much time. Only 15-20 minutes from unboxing to listening. It's far from an audiophile DAC, but for everyday listening it's more than capable.
