I bought it on MONDAY 27 MARCH and installed and registered on FRIDAY 31 MARCH 2006. I've noticed that it works fine as a CD-ROM device, but is a little buggy when it comes to DVD playback. I am running WINDOWS XP with 512MB of RAM which should be more than enough to keep this device running smoothly. I learned that the DVD software [written by a third party called CYBERLINK] was not written for WINDOWS XP. There is a 31465 KB patch called [PowerDVD6_patch_2003e2] available from CYBERLINK [after you register there] that fixes this condition! I would rate this SONY product a 5 if it weren't for a software bug. I have been buying SONY products for over 30 years because of their quality and unmatched customer service.
