I was hesitant to buy this based on some 'exploding lid' reviews but I'm glad I did. I've only used it once after just receiving it. I still have my 30 year old slow cooker and it works fine, but it has a temperature scale in degrees and this one has 'low, high, warm' settings. Most of the recipes I come across now call for low or high settings, and with the temperature dial I have to guess what temperature I think the recipe author considers "low". This. Set both on low at the same time and the chicken will cook at the same speed in both. According to the instructions, I did not close the lid during cooking. So I haven't had any cracked lids, leaks or outer case collapses. I love that red color and oval shape, my old dull brown and round. And I like having a warm environment on it. And at $25 for a 6-liter portable slow cooker, that's a pretty good deal. I cook in the slow cooker most of the year - will update if anything changes. I still use it several times a week - heats up just right, cooks well, easy to clean. I've even transported it with the lid locked and it hasn't crashed, but I only lock the lid during transport and unlock it when I plug it back in.
