If I could give this a NEGATIVE star I would. I hate writing bad reviews but this remote doesn't work at all. So, yes, there's no need to link this, but it took a while and I had to shut down my Roku XS multiple times to get it working. Worst of all, you have to be literally a foot away from the Roku device. to make it work. So why the remote control when you have to get up and approach the device to make it work. I bought this because my old remote stopped working and I can't enter my wifi password as Roku got disconnected from my router when I changed my wifi password. So when I have it plugged into my router with that remote, I use the Roku remote and put it aside. Now it just collects dust.
