Not as hard as one might expect.

I honestly don't understand why they turned out smaller than they look in the picture in this insert. Too soft, with each sharp opening of the door, it pierces the doorknob and this "wall protector” right through the drywall. This won't protect the wall the way you want it, it will work if there's some kind of hard backing material for the adhesive to stick to the wall.
