Review on Wi-Fi signal amplifier (repeater) TP-LINK RE190, white by Kiril Dimitrov ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The price/quality ratio is great, I will buy again.

It is important to note that the RE190 supports Wi-Fi 5 (/ac) networks and does not support Wi-Fi 6 (/ax). This model also does not have an Ethernet port (the older RE200/205/220 models have it).

Pros
  • The RE190 repeater is compact, handy and simple. This is the cheapest TP-Link repeater model that allows you to create TP-Link OneMesh home networks. Offered since 2022, currently available in 4 hardware versions. The formula is AC750, that is, Wi-Fi speed is theoretically up to 433 Mbps (at 5 GHz) or up to 300 Mbps (at 2.4 GHz). In my apartment, one RE190 is configured to work complete with a TP-Link Archer C80 router and forms a truly seamless OneMesh network (4 more similar repeaters can be added to it, but not in a chain, but directly to the router). All clients connect perfectly to the RE190 on the unloaded 5GHz band. The speed of receiving / transmitting data significantly depends on the place in the apartment, but next to the repeater the results are excellent (up to 270 Mbps). In the kitchen through a thick brick wall - noticeably worse (no more than 60 Mbps). To monitor the status of the OneMesh network and the repeater itself, there is a convenient application for Tether smartphones.
Cons
  • Minor disadvantages - very bright LED indicators without the ability to turn them off; consumes quite a lot (7 watts, so warm all the time).
