They dim the light well, an inch and a half
They seem to keep the light much further than I'm used to and the sockets I installed for the lights next to them don't. These grooves light up a good inch, an inch and a half, and they're pretty hard plastic/rubber too. They work, but they're just different than the grommets I've used in the past and are more uncomfortable.
