I received my Rosehip Seed Oil yesterday and was going to wait a few months before I could see visible results of its magic but this is such a superior product I couldn't wait . I'm 66 and spent my entire teenage years lounging on the beaches of San Diego long before SPF was part of our skincare routine. I've been taking good care of my skin since I got into the cosmetics and skincare industry when I was 20 and worked there for 25 years. But the damage is done, and none of the many, many lotions and creams I've used have been able to reverse the sun's effects, which are visible from hairline to cleavage. Long after I changed jobs, I learned that no creams or lotions can repair a damaged complexion because they are made of molecules too large to penetrate the top layer of skin, the epidermis. Oils are made up of much smaller molecules and have the ability to hydrate the skin on a slightly deeper level. Keep in mind that any product that can produce noticeable skin changes must be classified as a drug by the FDA and sold as such. However, I am switching from argan oil (which is great) to rosehip seed oil as it can lighten scars. I have visible scars on my jaw from plucking out those annoying hairs and two long scars on my right cheek from skin cancer surgery. Although my nose and chin are still a bit greasy, I still need some moisture. Oil and moisture are two completely different substances. I initially chose argan oil because it has a comedogenicity rating of 0 (on a scale of 0 to 5, with 5 being the most likely to unclog pores) and rosehip seed oil has a rating of 1, so I'm sure I'll go with it am the right track. FYI, coconut oil has a comedogenicity rating of 4 and should NEVER be used on the skin, even for cleansing. This particular oil is deep golden in color with a mild nutty or earthy flavor that tells you it's natural and 100% pure. There is no odor on skin contact. The smartest thing Pura D'or did was put their oil in a very dark brown bottle with a pump instead of a dropper. The pump works great and dispenses just enough to apply to the face and neck. By using a pump, you don't have to open the lid of the container every time you want to use it, exposing the product to unwanted air that can ruin it. It's worth buying for this feature alone. But other than that, as long as the oil is on my skin it leaves it very soft and hydrated. When I wash it off, my skin still feels smooth, soft, and dewy — quite an achievement for skin that's been through what mine has been through. Do I expect miracles from him? Absolutely not - that would be unreasonable. But I still want to use a quality oil as a face moisturizer. In all my years of being in the skincare industry, my skin hasn't felt this good.
