I have used several of these heads. I've been through more than I care to count. Ridgid needs to make a better auger head. They only hold a few uses. The spring steel that the snail is made of is too soft. If it grabs the debris, it will be pulled into the blockage and then freed from the nest it is attached to. Then the screw head cannot turn in any direction. It is not welded to the sleeve attached to the spiral. It loosens and the bit remains stationary while the rope rotates. The head cannot be rotated to clear the blockage. Therefore, you must pull the snake with enough force until the spring is compressed and the cable is released. Not a good design. But there is nothing on the market that can replace it.
