Review on Heather Grey/Black CleverMade Collapsible Cooler Bag: Insulated, Leakproof, Portable Soft-Sided Cooler With Room For 50 Cans - Perfect For Camping, Grocery Shopping, Lunch, And Road Trips by Mark Jefferson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It is collabsable, and the sides are soft, but with a (plastic?) frame that snaps into place inside.

I ended up returning mine, because it was perhaps 1/4 inch taller than the space in which I had planned to pack it, in my car. With most soft coolers, I'd just smush it down a bit, but this cooler has a plastic frame that snaps into place when you open it up to use it, and that frame doesn't seem strong enough to have other weight on top of it during a car trip. Possibly it would be strong enough for gentle use for quite a while, but I can't say; the insulation is not as thick as some of the other soft coolers I've seen, but I don't know how much that impacts the insulating qualities. If you are frustrated with soft coolers that won't stay upright when you're loading them, but you want something you can collapse and store in a small space, and plan to be reasonably gentle with your cooler, this might be the perfect cooler for you. If you looked at the dimensions and figured you could probably squeeze down the height, I wouldn't plan on that.

Pros
  • Loved that it folded down easily to put in my suitcase. Used in Yosemite and it never leaked on us.
Cons
  • Not very sturdy when empty
