So this coffee maker is very well designed. It's easy to use, quiet, doesn't leak, and you can adjust the temperature of the warning label to keep your freshly brewed coffee from overcooking. Removing the carafe is easy as you lift it by the handle and tilt it, it slides right out and no spills. Overall, Cusinart has done a good job. And it looks good on the table. Very minimalist. It comes with some filters as well as a gold filter, you should use a paper filter. You may not believe me now, but you will when you first clean the gold filter. This is a shortcoming, albeit fatal, since like many other coffee machines it did not pass the temperature test. I brew 8 to 10 cups of coffee at a time. We have 2 coffee makers because my wife is half caffeine and I drink high test. I don't want to brew 14 cups of coffee because after 2 hours of heating it just pours down the sink. The water temperature has never exceeded 178.8 degrees. It's just not enough to work. The oils in the coffee aren't noticeable because the water isn't hot enough. So every coffee you brew tastes like weak instant coffee. A strong setting only gives you coffee that is acidic and flat. I bought it to replace the 9 year old b*** who passed away. The new B*** I previously bought was terrible so I bought it based on the CR rating which gave it high marks. I am considering sending it back and just using my 5 cup system and boiling water.
