After reading the reviews I took a chance. I'm very glad I did. I recorded with it for about a month and a half and had almost no problems. He holds his position very well. I use a fairly heavy Samson USB C01U condenser microphone with shock absorber and pop filter (only about 2 lbs) and it doesn't fall off at all for hours of recording. I couldn't be happier about it. It's pretty stiff out of the box so it needs a firm grip to get it in place, but I can position it just about anywhere and it won't budge at all. The only downsides to this are quite minor. The clamp that attaches it to your table or shelf is a bit small, and with so much weight, I've noticed it digging into my cheap laminate shelving. I also can't get the clamp tight enough that it doesn't move a bit when I move my hand away from me. I'm not worried about the shackle falling off the clamp, but it could definitely be stronger. It's also worth noting that the pin you attach the mic to rotates and can't be blocked. This means you need to mount the mic straight up or down. If you mounted it sideways or at an angle, the weight of the mic would only force the stylus to rotate and the entire mic would just tip over. This was annoying at first but once mounted straight down I had no problems and was happy to be able to easily rotate the mic on the end of the stem in any direction without loosening the nut or clamp. This is great for getting the best possible angle for the shot (and maybe it's on purpose?). Generally a great thing. I am very happy.
