The case is certainly not bulletproof but I think it did its job. I keep my phone on a strong magnetic phone holder on the motorcycle tank. I never had any problems with it until yesterday. I was driving on the freeway when suddenly a strong wind came up, my bike tipped away from the strong wind and caught my phone just right and then threw it off the bike. I also drove at 80 km/h. Thank goodness for the iPhone's Where's My Phone feature and a tablet in my backpack. After about 30 minutes of searching for my phone, I finally found it. The case was completely cracked off and on in several places causing it to break. He probably crashed several times at 80mph before giving up. Luckily I only had small tears on the corners of the phone and one small tear along the diagonal of the screen. The phone still works and doesn't bother my looks. Nothing against Samsung phones but if it had been my old Galaxy it would have crashed completely. I'm giving 4 stars because I feel the Defender series should be a little heavier for hits like this. Before my phone broke, the inner plastic case seemed to wear down a bit after removing it, and it seemed like that might be why it came loose on impact. It could be worse but don't trust the case if you accidentally dropped it from the 1st floor balcony. Maybe I got a bad batch, I don't know.
