Review on 🌬️ Zep Air and Fabric Odor Eliminator 32oz ZUAIR – Get Rid of Lingering Odors! by Shaun Schatz

We recently purchased a quality mattress and adjustable base from a local online auction and saved over $1400 over retail. While it's always intimidating to buy used furniture online, especially a mattress, we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to own such a highly acclaimed set. My husband took the mattress and pad, brought them home, unfolded them, and I was immediately struck by the distinct smell of cigarette smoke. Pooh. He offered to sell it and buy a new mattress, but not an easy match to beat, I immediately started looking for online solutions for permanent cigarette smoke removal. I tried the most common suggestions first: sprinkle with baking soda and then vacuum. nope The smell of smoke was still there. Next: wipe it down with a solution of detergent and lemon. It really helped but unfortunately the smell returned the next day. I was tempted to try the vinegar hack but read elsewhere not to. With patience for a more natural approach, I realized that a commercial solution was needed to break down and eliminate the odor. I chose Zep because its name specifically mentioned fabric, and reviewers commented that the scent was fresh. I have an aversion to most scented products, especially anything that smells like perfume, but how much worse can that be than stale smoke. The order for two bottles arrived quickly and sealed; However, I did notice a small leak from one bottle, but nothing major. I went to work quickly. The first sprays and I regretted having chosen Zep. The smell was quite strong and a bit off-putting, but oddly enough, the more I sprayed, the more I liked it. It smelled more clean than chemical. The sprayer distributed the product reasonably well in a broader mist, which is important when spraying over a fairly large surface such as a mattress or sofa. I did notice some drips so I will use with caution on delicate items that may stain and read the do's and don'ts instructions. I ended up using a whole bottle and a little bit of a second for two days. Allow the mattress to dry before applying more to avoid saturating the foam hybrid mattress. I would suggest if you need to cover a large area get one of those cheap little face masks. I didn't and I should have. Although I wasn't hacking, I felt my lungs were slightly irritated. I need a whole bottle and then another? Probably not, but I have a dog's sense of smell lol and I wanted to make sure the smell was gone. The smell of Zep has dissipated greatly and I'm happy to report that the smoke is gone, hooray!
