After decades of observing the "top" side of the USB port, this device has all three USB ports installed so you have to plug it in upside down. This is normal as the orientation of the connector after insertion does not matter. In order to "tighten up", I had trouble inserting the SD card, so I flipped it over and it slipped in. I looked at the photos of this unit above and the SD card shows without a label as it is facing the table. Otherwise, this unit is beautiful, durable and works great. When inserted into the computer ports, it is firmly held in place. You don't have to hold the device to turn off USB devices. Functionality and performance are also in line with expectations. I get USB 3.0 speeds from each of the ports and I can read and write to the SD card at card speeds. Also, it seems to be sending a lot of power to the computer. All in all, a very economical expansion device. Feel free to buy it.
