The threaded rod is a bit short.
ceramic filter works fine after pumping a few gallons to remove a slight chalky taste (everyone needs it), my main complaint is the screw shaft is a little short, an extra 1/4 inch (6mm) would be a huge improvement in my opinion. Note that I am using these in a homemade filter setup (two 5 gallon buckets) and due to the gap between the bottom of the top bucket and the lid of the bottom bucket it's almost impossible to tighten the nut properly (there is a bit of threading ).
