Review on πŸ“ Safco Products 3088 Wire Roll File: Efficient 24-Compartment White Organizer by Michelle Pope

Bad materials, bad design, very thin.

Very low quality, especially for the price. Almost useless without mods, not sure if it will last more than a few months. Today we received our roll binder and we are very disappointed with both the quality of the materials and the design elements. We stock plastic gel rolls for theatrical lighting and the total weight of a finished file is 58 lbs. We didn't weigh the file without the gel and didn't want to unload it after it was already organized but the item description says it weighs 14lbs so we had to load 44lbs of material into it. As for the quality. We noticed three main problems with the materials: 1. "thick steel bar” is quite thin; 2. Clamps used to hold parts together are weak and poorly designed; 3. Wheels do not rotate freely.1. What do I mean by "thin" bars? Once assembled and without loading anything, as the file rolls, the legs flex and flex with the wheels. It's weak! 2. Each clip snaps onto two adjacent bars, trying to hold them together. These aren't very strong pieces of metal, but even if they were, they don't fully enclose the bars and pop out easily with the slightest twist.3. The wheels don't really roll for the most part. Basically, they just drag and drop them as you move the cart. We saved it! Yes, you'll be surprised, but after spending so much time assembling and organizing our gels, we just didn't want to take everything apart and put it back in the box. We tweaked the design a bit: we moved the back of the file down two bars to better support the rear wheels. Without this attitude, these rods would bend and break within weeks if not days. We also used stiff electrical wire to tie and hold the joints. The clips kept popping out during this process, and without them the carriage would have been blown to bits - probably the first time it had been used by a person who didn't light the light very carefully. No wonder this product was made in China. This embodies everything that seems wrong about products from this country and I suggest everyone else either find a much better product or find a way to build/manufacture their own.
