Well they're cheaper than polyurethane filters
I've been using my first Glacier Fresh refill for three weeks. Water tastes ok. I gave it to a friend to drink and she didn't like it and said she tasted stale. I doubt the filtering process because water bubbles out of the water filter. It doesn't seem to filter out as much as much slower PUR water filters do. I've been using them since I bought them, but I need a way to check how much filtering is going on.
