PROS:* Works. As promised. Point CONS:* Can't determine USE: Approach is ok (for me). But maybe they could change their design to make the first step more visible, as many people don't seem to realize that they need to increase their ventilation during treatment. Control parameters, feeding methods and manual extraction. My parameters didn't fluctuate and were relatively stable during the breakout. But that didn't seem to bother the cyano. However, I went with the standard methods of stabilizing water chemistry (all parameters were measured within acceptable limits and remained stable), water purity (regular water changes), reduced feeding and change of feed. I even removed some cyano manually. I bought a vacuum cleaner for this. They did not fare well due to the size of the gravel (Caribsea Arag-Alive Special Grade). After a few weeks I decided to move on to phase 2 and try bacterial supplements. I tried Microbacter7 Brightwell Aquatic as well as Dr. Dose Tim's Waste-Away. I've been doing this for a month following dosage instructions. They didn't matter at all. Phase 3 was Chemi-Clean. I have the ventilation schedule on 24/7 all day. I removed the charcoal. A few hours later I injected about half the recommended dose of Chemi-Clean. After 24 hours the cyano was almost gone. For 36 hours there was (apparently) no trace of him anywhere. There hasn't been any cyano for a few weeks. I kept the adjusted feeding cycle and food types. And reset the ventilation schedule to the original programming. I have carbon back. It works out. While I always prefer natural remedies, time, and improved animal husbandry, sometimes it takes a little more effort to fix a problem. Chemi-Clean worked great and I didn't notice any negative side effects on the corals or the inhabitants of my tank.
