Review on Gates 44009 Premium Engine Water Pump: Optimal Performance and Reliability by Robert Helstrom

Bought for my 1994 F-150 which has a 300ci/4.9L straight-six. Quality casting, bearings feel great and are factory fitted. My fan clutch was regularly tightened (right tight, left loose) and matched this pump perfectly. You'll probably need a special tool to lock the water pump pulley, without which I couldn't get the fan clutch off, although others on the internet said they had no problems. I used a large crescent for the clutch nut but I think it's 38mm or the standard equivalent. Once I had the tool, it took an hour and a half. Simple, simple job and I expect another 150,000 miles from this water pump. Will update if necessary. -06.02.2019
