Revainrating 3 out of 5

I sent back one that works.

Received this unit as expected. It felt solid and well built, and was pretty easy to set up. Connected the speaker to my subwoofer and then to 8 ohm speakers. So far, so good. I can't figure out why they come with 4 ohm outputs as 4 ohm requires better parts to handle the extra current. Rating or calling it 2x120 is a joke at best. It delivers 20W at 1% distortion into 4 ohms or 10W into 8 ohms. Not bad for such a cheap device with all the really great features. The handles are solid and the device can run/play a lot of options. Now the really bad news. After about an hour of use. I noticed terrible low-frequency distortion and cracking that was present regardless of the input source. And worse, it was intermittent. One minute everything was fine, the next it was. This unit will be returned to Revain and I will get a new one asap. Three stars for the concept and what it does for the price. Another star if the replaced block does not have distortions in the low-frequency range. I would be willing to pay double if this "thing" worked properly. In any case, I quickly noticed a characteristic humming noise even without a load. Not that big of a deal since I use it to boot my computer with keyboards/synths etc so I can live with the hum. 5 stars if the hum/distortion is gone with the new device as well. Just take a look. Something else. The SD card slot requires the card to be inserted about 1/4 upside down in order to function. So don't expect to stick it in "Home" and hear any clicks, and don't bother reading the instructions as it's useless. .
