I don't consider myself an avid environmentalist, but I try to avoid plastic as much as possible. That's why I started using reusable bags. These are the second ones I've tried and I like them a lot better. The zipper is much easier to use, firstly I always have trouble opening and closing others, now I forget the brand. I don't buy lunch so I use these bags to pack sandwiches and snacks. The material is nice and durable, I've never had food leaks in my bag. I also have a few that I use to put things in the fridge. In fact, I even have one in the freezer. The bags don't mind the cold - the closure works perfectly and the food stays fresh. Last time I traveled I even used bags to store liquids. Never leaked. Much, much better than those skinny zippered bags! When washing, remember that they cannot be washed in the dishwasher. However, it should be obvious when you look at them. I just hand wash them in the sink with warm water and let them dry. I try not to put greasy substances in it so it's easier to clean. The bottom line is these pouches are great. I mean, they're a must-have for anyone trying to reduce plastic or single-use in general - they're one of my favorite eco-friendly products, along with my stainless steel straws and Swedish kitchen towels. In fact, I tried to convince my sister to buy these bags too. Once you start using them, you can't go back to disposable zipper products. It takes a bit more effort to clean, but in my humble opinion they're definitely worth it... and they're not even that expensive! You get 12 of these in a pack.
