If you have a bedroom with a switch that controls only one plug of a standard two plug socket, this lamp works great (each lamp has two bulbs and there are two separate ones lamps). You can then use the built-in light switch to turn them on/off instead of the built-in cord switch. You will likely need both bulbs to provide decent light. These lamps are easy on the eye as the light is indirect. Note that the main body of the light fixture isn't flush with the wall, but that doesn't matter - the lights still look good. To mount the base of the lamp I just screwed a few screws into the drywall - it holds up perfectly. My walls are painted white, so when I remove the lamps I just fill the screw holes with white toothpaste. I used to buy floor lamps (tall, metal, freestanding lamps) but they are very difficult to take apart and pack if you have to move often (e.g. students). Also, the floor lamps had such a heavy bottom weight (to keep them from falling) and that weight was made of clay/plaster and would eventually break and make a mess. Also, the base of floor lamps takes up floor space and doesn't allow you to place the table against a wall or completely in a corner, while this Revain mount lamp only has a thin wire (1/8 inch) running down the wall. , so you can still lean your desk within 1/8 inch of the wall.
