Review on Yost M7WW Fast-Acting Workhorse by Mike Sutherland

Worth the investment.

The bad first. The installation (for me) was difficult/difficult. The most difficult aspect is the weight of the vise. If you can turn the installation surface upside down, it will be much easier. I didn't have that option so holding it down to change location/depth/etc was a challenge. to determine. Be sure to try to get a second pair of hands (preferably attached to a patient person). Good. Excellent quality. Extremely durable. I've never had the quick release in a vise and it's a great feature to save time and hassle. Very smooth-running thanks to the quick-release mechanism and handle/screw. Holding capacity is great. I decided to set mine up as an end vise and covered the installed surface with a board, recessed around the face to hide the metal (and provide a softer clamping surface) and extended the full width of my bench to make it look like like it did not exist. I also installed a full-width recessed plate on the moving edge, covering the face and many edges (again, providing a softer holding surface). The only downside to this was that it obscured the inline dog. However, the wood I used for the fairing was 3 inches thick, which allowed me to make 3 dog holes in the top to match the dog holes on my bench, providing a "secondary" longboard clamping option. . flat on the bench. Anyone looking for a strong vise that also makes a pretty good looking end vise should consider this one. This is really what I would have wished for many years ago.
