Description of Continental ContiCrossContact LX2 225/65 R17 102H summer
Continental ContiCrossContactTM LX 2 - Superb on-road and light off-road handling. Excellent braking performance on dry and wet surfaces, as well as very good handling. Long mileage and high driving comfort. Excellent traction characteristics in light off-road conditions.
Like the previous model without the “two” in the name, the Continental ContiCrossContact LX2 summer passenger tire is designed for crossovers and SUVs, most of which are used on asphalt highways and dirt roads. From its popular predecessor, the new German tire giant differs in increased braking efficiency, both on dry and wet roads, which ensures a higher level of safety. In addition, this model boasts excellent handling and low noise levels. And, of course, the Continental ContiCrossContact LX2 is perfectly suited for driving on country roads and light off-road.
Since the tire was originally intended for use mainly on paved roads, the German tire manufacturers preferred to use a symmetrical non-directional tread pattern with massive blocks. At the same time, in the central part and shoulder zones, they are interconnected by rigid bridges. Thanks to this technical solution, it was possible to solve several problems at once. First of all, this is the lightning response of the tire to the steering wheel, which greatly facilitated the process of control. In addition, directional stability has been significantly improved, due to which the tire has gained stability when driving at any speed. It is also impossible not to note the decrease in rolling resistance, which most favorably affected the fuel efficiency indicators.
Despite the small number of tread blocks by modern standards, this tire compares favorably with the highest braking efficiency, especially on wet roads. This ability appeared due to the many straight lamellas. These tread elements simultaneously perform two functions at once. First of all, this is the creation of additional grip edges that appear at the moment the lamella comes into contact with the road surface. In addition, when driving on a wet road, the sharp straight edges formed by them remove water from the contact patch, directing it into the longitudinal drainage grooves. This results in a higher hydroplaning resistance.
One of the key features of the tread pattern of this tire is the presence of two longitudinal ribs in the shoulder areas, which are distinguished by the absence of any breaks along their entire length. Like lamellas, they are multifunctional.
First of all, they are a barrier to noise generated in the central part of the tread when driving. Thanks to the sound-absorbing properties of these longitudinal ribs, a higher level of ride comfort is ensured....
