Review on Serfas Seca Wire Bead Tire with FPS: Your Ultimate Performance Companion! by Mark Green

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good tires 27 x 1.25 Serfas Seca with wire bead.

I liked the value for money of other Serfas products (tire pump, multiple tires, seats) and the quality of these tires looks pretty good. Fitted with black 27x1.25 tires on 1980 Trek 27"x1" Rigida wheels. Assembly Tip: Start with the valve stem so that the rim is slightly level between your thighs and the edge of the workbench. (You may be able to hook the hub onto the edge of the workbench instead of pressing the opposite end of the rim against the workbench.) The tube should be slightly inflated in the new tire. Push/push the two sidewall flanges into the rim a few inches on either side of the valve stem. Continue to install both side beads of wire into the rim, working evenly on either side of the rim toward the opposite end of the valve stem. This helps to pull/stretch the Seca tire towards the end opposite the valve stem with each hand when mounting it on the rim. As you approach the opposite end of the valve stem, it shouldn't be too difficult to slide the final portion of the wire bead edges onto the rim. I was able to do this without using tire spoons. Be careful not to damage the rim (or hub) on the workbench.
