This is EXACTLY what you would expect. It adds a Vesa mount to a screen that doesn't have that option. The problem only exists with the original monitor, not with the stand. The original monitor stand hangs under the monitor. You can see it in the picture. This is NOT the bracket's fault. If you're really interested, you can turn it off. I am satisfied with the product. This allows me to operate the monitor in my device with two hands.
