I wouldn't call it easy to clean or tough so those were odd categories for a star rating. This product is made of natural wood, it washes well, but it is wood so set your expectations accordingly. It's untreated so it's safe for your furry friends. Speaking of the safe, it's well built and if there are nails, as they say, they aren't. You can't chew it, thank goodness, because it's designed to be chewed. My chinchilla walks on the windowsills - she likes it. This product is large in size and height. She's not tense at all. It doesn't taper towards the top, which I like because it gives her plenty of room to dangle from the top. The windows are actually big enough to jump through - she's a big fan of her secret escape loops. She also uses them to get to her hay to eat at her house. A great product for us! When she's done eating I'll definitely be buying more!
