Review on πŸ’‘ Philips 9012CVB2 CrystalVision Ultra Upgrade Headlight Bulb, Pack of 2 by David Lesperance

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Does NOT meet color temperature requirements, but is better than anything else.

A range of Philips Crystal Vision headlamps that I have used for 9012 and 9007 lamp types The two lamp types match in color temperature but this temperature is more yellow than what Philips claims. These are the whitest NON-BLUE halogens I could find, they are whiter than the S.ania competitors but not really as white. They cost quite a bit, and they don't last as long as the Lifetime (much more yellow) or Standard (much more yellow), but they're nowhere near as "white" as the photos show. Compared to LEDs of similar color temperature (e.g. DRLs) they are much more yellow and do not match. They should be 4700-5000K but they are much more yellow than 500K LED DRLs. The LEDs have been compared to other advertised color temperatures and appear to match their advertised specs much better. Hence the conclusion that Philips STRONGLY overstates the color temperature (whiteness) of these lamps. Unfortunately, to really get whiter you need either LEDs or HIDs, which are in different classes in price and complexity. Overall they get a 4 (better than any other halogen), but only a 4 because the whiteness claims are grossly overstated.
